Reconstruction of the excitation set at the pumped storage power plant
Another of the large ZAT projects, which builds on the original deliveries of excitation sets from the 1970s. The original excitation from Škoda was reconstructed over time. Now ZAT follows up with its solution, which is used for the first time at the Slovak pumped storage hydropower plant.
The Liptovská Mara pumped storage hydropower plant with an installed capacity of 198 MW is located in the beautiful surroundings of the foothills of the Western Tatras on the Váh River. Its 4 blocks provide a stable power supply for the safe operation of the Jaslovské Bohunice nuclear power plant - it is therefore of strategic importance for the Slovak energy sector.
In 2021, our company participated in a tender for the supplier of 10 excitation sets for several hydropower plants located throughout Slovakia. One of them is Liptovská Mara.
Another opportunity for a compact solution
In 2022, we delivered and put into operation the first of the new excitation sets. Once again, we used the proven type of compact controller ZAT SandRA AVR Z110. The equipment was put into operation on schedule, which was a major challenge for all suppliers due to the current market situation with a lack of components. We were able to overcome outages of important deliveries and in cooperation with the customer's technicians we managed to meet the important deadline for the end of the shutdown.
The implemented project checked and at the same time confirmed the ability of our company to deal not only with technical requirements, but also with supply outages from our subcontractors.
