ZAT contributed to the professional debate on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) at a conference organized by the Czech Technical University in Prague.

As a leading European supplier to the nuclear energy sector, we took part in the international SMR 2026 conference, held in mid-February at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. We engaged in one of the most widely discussed areas of today’s nuclear industry—the development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).

We presented in an expert session focused on building the supply chain for SMRs, where we shared our long-term experience in delivering control and safety systems for both research and power reactors. “We shared practical insights from projects such as the LVR-15 research reactor at the Research Centre Řež and from international installations, highlighting the key role of standardization, cybersecurity, and the reliability of control platforms in the rapidly evolving SMR segment,” said Karel Stočes, Marketing and Sales Director for Nuclear Energy at ZAT.

The conference confirmed that SMRs will be one of the key pillars of modern nuclear energy in the coming years. “Our participation in the expert discussion demonstrates that we are not only technologically prepared, but also actively recognized as an important player in future next-generation reactor projects,” added Karel Stočes.

The conference brought together experts from academia, industry, and the public sector, enabling an open exchange of both technical and strategic perspectives on the deployment of SMRs in Europe.
