Strengthening our nuclear power relationship with KHNP

In mid-June, the Czech-Korean Day of Nuclear Power and Culture took place at the Žofín Palace in Prague, co-organised by the Korean companies KHNP and KNA, the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Czech Republic.

The event was attended by approximately four hundred representatives of government institutions and companies from both countries, who were treated to speeches by distinguished guests, official signing ceremonies and a rich cultural programme. ZAT was represented at the event by Karel Stočes, Marketing and Sales Director for Nuclear Power, and Denisa Ranochová, ZAT Spokesperson.

Tomas Ehler, Deputy Chief Director of the Power Engineering and Nuclear Resources Section of the MIT, emphasised the importance of involving Czech companies in the project at the event, saying, "The key will be to manage the project on time, within budget and with the highest possible involvement of Czech companies. Early and mutually beneficial involvement of Czech companies will be essential for the success of the project,"

According to the company's management, cooperation with Czech companies is a priority for KHNP. The Group has long guaranteed their involvement in 65 percent of the supplies for the completion of the Dukovany NPP if it is selected as the preferred supplier.

Our participation in the event follows two years of negotiations and the signing of an updated Memorandum of Cooperation with Doosan Enerbility in mid-May this year, which sets out the basic scope of possible ZAT supplies in the context of KHNP's success in completing the new nuclear units in the Czech Republic.

Our SandRA control system is compatible with KHNP's technology and we have a lot to offer the Korean company.
