Reconstruction of turbine and excitation regulators

ZAT has been supplying control systems to the largest Slovak hydropower plant Gabčíkovo for over 30 years. In 1992, our company, then still part of Škoda Energo s.r.o., installed the first excitation sets for 90 MW generators. After commissioning all 8 blocks, the power plant has a respectable installed capacity of 720 MW.

Approximately 10 years ago, the investor Vodohospodárska výstavba, š.p. decided for the gradual reconstruction of turbine regulators and generator excitation sets. As part of this project, our company gradually replaced 5 excitation sets, further implementation will take place in 2022 and 4 turbine regulators. The next realization of the excitation set took place in 2022.

Reducing of operating costs thanks to compact solutions

The subsequent operation of the Gabčíkovo hydropower plant also confirmed that the choice of compact turbine and excitation controllers on the SandRA platform is the right one. This simple and affordable solution has increased the operational reliability of the controlled technology and reduced operating costs while maintaining speed, performance and communication capabilities, as is the case with a robust and usually more expensive solution.

For the implementation of complex deliveries for such a demanding customer as Vodohospodárska výstavba, it is necessary to have the background of a stable company with top know-how - the same as in ZAT.
