At the end of January we met with EDF representatives and the French Minister of Power Engineering in Prague
On Monday 8 January 2024, a gala banquet was held at the French Embassy in Prague under the auspices of the French Ambassador H.E. Alexis Dutertre, attended by the French Minister for Energy Transformation Agnès Pannier-Runacher. On behalf of EdF, the potential supplier of the new nuclear power plant at Dukovany, were present L. Rémont, V. Ramany, R. Zdebor and S. Illouz.
The Czech side was represented by M. Šimonovský, J. Perlík, J. Holinka, P. Altschul and J. Scharf Jr. J. Rafaj attended the event on behalf of the Confederation of Industry and Transport.
According to the French Minister, the nuclear programme in France is running at full speed. The French government has declared its full support for EdF's bid for a new nuclear programme in the Czech Republic, starting with the tender for the fifth unit of the Dukovany NPP. CEO Luc Rémont mentioned the demonstrable steps to fully involve the Czech industry and supply chain in the bid, as well as to create a European fleet effect with EPR technology.
On this occasion, J. Scharf Jr., Chairman of the Board of Directors of ZAT a.s., met with Luc Rémont and Sarah Illouz, Director of Supply, where they discussed ZAT's competences in the nuclear power industry as well as their joint references in supplying eight French nuclear power plants.
ZAT has established a long-term partnership with EdF. In 2012, we jointly signed a contract for the supply of 58 KCF system cabinets for 20 nuclear units of eight French nuclear power plants with a completion date of 2024. In 2021, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed. Last year, our mutual activities resulted in the official certification of ZAT for the non-safety area. Certification for safety systems is currently being planned.
