We are also deploying our SimONet wireless technology on the railways. We implemented a pilot project in the framework of landslide detection on the railway line near Karlovy Vary. The client of the project ensuring the safety of rail transport of people and material is the General Directorate of the Railway Association, a state organization.

Variable notification and maintenance-free system
In the event of changes in the monitored area of the track, a warning signal is sent either to the ZAT SimONet platform, which the staff has access to, or to an e-mail or mobile phone. The responsible employee then immediately informs the train driver of any risk. Along with the warning signal, he will receive photos from the given location for more accurate identification of the incident. The dispatcher can view the photos whenever he needs to.

40 battery-powered sensors with a lifespan of up to five years take care of safety at the place of risk of landslides in Karlovy Vary. The system is almost maintenance-free and can be transferred to a new location in case of remediation of a risk area.

"A similar system is used by French, Dutch and Scottish railways. We collaborated on the project with a foreign company that has been dealing with the issue of landslides for many years," says Milan Hucl, director of ZAT's Smart Systems division.
