Intelligent ZAT landslide detection system monitors another railway line in the Czech Republic
The railway line Mosty u Jablunkova is now monitored by the landslide detection system (SSSP) of our company ZAT, due to a risky unstable slope that was causing disturbances in the geometric position of the track.
Until now, the dangerous section had to be checked daily by the line manager, which did not guarantee a continuous overview of the track condition. The new system, which operates on the principle of wireless sensors, continuously monitors the hazardous sections and automatically sends a notification of the detected inclination of the sensors when slope movements are detected. For the Railway Administration this means not only economic and personnel savings, but above all ensuring the safety of railway operation.
Continuous monitoring and immediate warning
Mosty u Jablunkov is surrounded by the Silesian Beskydy, Moravian-Silesian Beskydy and Slovak Beskydy mountains, and the specific local weather and climate affect the stability of the railway section. "We have deployed 50 battery-powered tilt sensors with a high lifetime of up to 5 years. The system provides 24/7 unattended monitoring of the site and provides immediate warning in the event of sudden collapses of the railway substructure. The information is transmitted to the visualization in real time, which can prevent risks to people's health and damage to property," explains Milan Hucl, Director of the company's Smart Systems Division.
The system is almost maintenance-free and transferable to a new location in the event of remediation of a risk area. Thanks to its innovative solution, it is one of the cheapest on the market.
The system already ensures safe operation at two locations in the Czech Republic
The ZAT system has also proven itself to the Railway Administration on the line near Karlovy Vary, where the SSPS has been monitoring the slope since 2022. „Another benefit is the reduced need for physical inspections. Frequent physical inspections would not only mean higher costs, but also keep employees busy and limit their ability to perform other tasks. In addition, we have all the data stored on the Railway Administration's servers and use the SimONet platform to display it. The landslide monitoring system serves us as a temporary monitoring system until the slope is rehabilitated," says Radek Trejtnar, Director of the Track Management Department, Railway Administration.
