The Nuclear 2025 Conference: Czech industry would welcome increased communication
The main topic of the Nuclear 2025 conference, which was held under the auspices of the Union of Construction Entrepreneurs and the Czech Power Industry Alliance on 5 November 2024, was the completion of the Dukovany NPP.
The main theme of the conference was the maximum involvement of Czech companies in the completion of the Dukovany nuclear power plant - a key project for both the ZAT and the energy self-sufficiency of the Czech Republic.
At the event, representatives of KHNP, the winners of the tender, presented the location and preparations for the organisation of the construction of the nuclear reactors, a contract worth CZK 400 billion.
According to Jiří Nouza, president of the Union of Construction Entrepreneurs, there are concerns on the Czech side about whether it will be possible to enshrine clear commitments in the documents before the March signing of the EPC contract with the winner of the tender, in terms of what percentage and how the domestic industry will be involved in the project, which for the Czech Republic represents not only the contract of the century, but also energy and security self-sufficiency.
The conference was divided into three thematic blocks. The first one concerned the localisation (involvement of Czech companies) and the preparation of the organisation of the construction of new nuclear sources. The second block was devoted to the preparation of small and modular reactors (SMRs). The third block included a policy discussion with leading politicians from both chambers of the Czech Parliament and representatives of the corporate sector.
Our company was represented at the event by Karel Stočes, Jan Homut and Jan Fencl.
