ZAT cooperates with Brno University of Technology to develop a product for the railway - with state support

As part of the development of new products, since January this year we have established cooperation with the Brno University of Technology (VUT Brno) on a research and development project called Diagnostics and monitoring of fractures of tongue rails of railway switches. We are responding to the interest of the Railway Administration, a state organization, to address the issue and reduce the risk of accidents on the railway. The Railway Administration is our long-term partner.

The project is planned for 3 years. Its aim is to develop a complex digitized diagnostic system for the tongue rail of railway switches using modern approaches and technologies. The developed system will have two core functions: detection of an already emerging crack in the switch tongue and predictability of crack initiation by means of a digital twin. The condition of the switch tongue rail and analyses for predictive maintenance will be displayed in the developed software environment.

In the development of the device, maximum effort will be put on the applicability in practice, while emphasizing the optimal balance between the cost of manufacturing the diagnostic device and the added value.
