We will join the development of the small helium-cooled fast reactor HeFASTo

For example, we have implemented two successful projects with the Řež Research Centre over the last ten years, namely the complete renewal of the protection and control system of the LVR-15 research reactor and the control of a complex of ten hot cells for the preparation of active samples and test bodies for mechanical testing.

Another project on which ÚJV Řež has been working since 2013 is the development of the ALLEGRO fast gas-cooled reactor demonstrator. Last year, the company came up with the concept of its own small helium-cooled fast reactor HeFASTo (Helium-cooled Fast Reactor), which we want to join as a major European supplier of control systems for energy and industry.

We discussed the possibilities of this cooperation with Jiří Duspiva, Director of the Nuclear Safety and Reliability Division at ÚJV Řež, who together with his colleagues was invited to the ZAT production site and headquarters in Příbram at the end of April. At the beginning of the meeting we gave them a tour of ZAT's development and production facilities and introduced our competences in the nuclear industry. The representatives of ÚJV Řež spoke in particular about the ALLEGRO and HeFASTo projects.

The final part was devoted to a discussion of the possibilities of cooperation, both in the development of this new technology and in the subsequent commercial supply within the nuclear market. "The representatives of ÚJV Řež welcomed the possibility of ZAT's involvement in the HeFASTo project from the perspective of technology management. This gives us another opportunity to be part of the realization of advanced modular reactors of the IV generation," says Karel Stočes, Marketing and Sales Director for ZAT's nuclear power business.

By integrating our technologies into the HeFASTo project, we are continuing ZAT's strategy of supplying control and management systems for operating and new-build research and small power reactors, including associated technologies.
